This summer, Diablos Caravan embark on an epic 62 date tour of NZ. 62 evenings of incredible live acoustic guitar music by a trio of the finest guitarists in the country and special guests. Winding our way back to the coast, we have the pleasure of performing at the historic Old School Arts Theatre in Raglan on Sunday 20th March. A show not to be missed. If you love acoustic guitar or supporting live music, then come join the Caravan for an unforgettable long, northern summer night of original, on edge, Flamenco, Blues, Latin Jazz and everything in between! Concerts at the Arts Centre are running under the Red Covid setting with Vaccine Passes. On arrival please wear a face covering, check in by scanning the QR poster or with the manual register. The Karioi Quilters have been making high quality, natural fibre, artistic quilts for many years. Primarily a patchwork and quilting group, the members meet to share knowledge and skills and enjoy creating in good company. From 2023, we changed the name to Karioi Quilts and Crafts to open the group up to other crafters. Members can work on their own projects ranging from quilts, sewing projects and you can even bring your knitting, as long as it’s not a messy craft anything goes. New members are always welcome to come along to work on their own projects and learn techniques from a group of very creative craftspeople. Born 1952 in the Eketahuna Maternity Hospital, later to be an old folks’ home (finally a goat paddock). Named ‘Michael’ by his parents, ‘Mum’ & ‘Dad’. Growing up in a small-town way; rugby at the domain, swimming in the baths and the river. At high school Gilbert & Sullivan, at home Barry Crump. Friday night shopping trips to Masterton. Shearing gangs, possum traps, country roads and country pubs. After Massey University, his musical apprenticeship took place busking in K. Road, and Cook Street Market, followed by Folk Clubs and festivals in NZ, Australia and the UK. His first album ‘Time On The Road’ led to a hitch-hiking tour of Highways 1 to 91 with solo shows of homegrown songs. Mike’s recordings have often been played on RNZ National Radio. He compiled ‘When the Pakeha Sings of Home’ for Godwit Press and has made several series of programmes for National Radio on New Zealand music.
