Brick by Brick Appeal 2024

Help complete getting the lift fitted in the Raglan Creative Space building brick by brick

Our builders Christie Carpentry have been working around room bookings and having access shut off during the car park rebuild, constructing the lift shaft in the Creative Space building behind the Old School. We still need funds for the final work on the accessible lift that will complete this important community facility – 12 more bricks will get us over the line! Any extra will kickstart our next project – adding a toilet to the building.

The versatile building off Stewart Street has been planned to meet the community needs. It replaced the old Clay Shed and Lions Club Shed. On the ground floor there is the Clay Shed, Kiln Room and Lions Club. The first floor Whare Tapare provides a multi-functional space catering for meetings, drama, theatre, music, and dance that has been well used since 2021 and now features acoustic panels, a small collapsible stage and raked retractable seating offering comfort and a great view.

RCAC is now offering all residents the opportunity to donate toward finishing the lift in the building by buying a brick as part of Batch 6.

Thanks to a lot of hard work by volunteers, amazing support from our Raglan Whaingaroa community, and donations from several community funders we have been able to get the lift project underway. We now need to find the final funds to get the lift in so the building is accessible to all.

Rodger Gallagher, Chair of Raglan Community Arts Council

The Brick-by-Brick project offers Raglanites the chance to make a donation and have their kindness and generosity permanently commemorated with an engraved brick.

Bricks laid from Batch three

67 bricks are already a wonderful feature of the paving and landscape design around the new building. The bricks feature a range of engravings – words of wisdom, names, business logos, celebrations of births and memorials, even a few beloved pets.

The Brick-by-Brick campaign is an opportunity for you, your family, or business to be a solid part of this wonderful new facility which will benefit the entire community.

Rodger says that with the community’s help, the RCAC can complete the last steps of getting the lift in and working.

Bricks are available now for a donation of $300. A charitable donation receipt will be issued for tax rebate use. For businesses, the cost can be a marketing expense. Sponsorship options from $300 plus GST are available.
