    August 1, 2021

    SORRY FULLY BOOKED:

Community screening hosted by Meredith and Robin Youngson

In The Wisdom of Trauma, we travel alongside physician, bestselling author and Order of Canada recipient Dr. Gabor Maté to explore why Western society is facing such epidemics of anxiety, chronic illness and substance abuse . This is a journey with a man who has dedicated his life to understanding the connection between illness, addiction, trauma and society.

Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Maté gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviours, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms and judging, but seek instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviours and diseases spring in the wounded human soul. He points us to the path of individual and collective healing.

Featuring: Russell Brand, James Doty, Tim Ferriss

Category: Movies Movie- PERCY Vs GOLIATH (7.00pm)

    August 1, 2021

Based on the True Story of One Man's Fight against Corruption
Based on events from a 1998 lawsuit, PERCY follows small-town farmer Percy Schmeiser, who challenges a major conglomerate when the company's genetically modified (GMO) canola is discovered in the 70-year-old farmer's crops. Percy Schmeiser (Christopher Walken), a third-generation farmer, gets sued by a corporate giant for allegedly using their patented seeds.
As he speaks out against the company's business practices, he realizes he is representing thousands of other disenfranchised farmers around the world fighting the same battle. Suddenly, he becomes an unsuspecting folk hero in a desperate war to protect farmers' rights and the world's food supply against what they see as corporate greed

With little resources to fight a legal battle, Percy joins forces with attorney Jackson Weaver (Zac Braff) and environmental activist Rebecca Salcau (Christina Ricci) for a case that leads all the way to the Supreme Court.

    Movie- THE MISFITS (8.00pm)

Category: Movies Movie- THE MISFITS (8.00pm)

    August 14, 2021

Richard Pace (Pierce Brosnan) is a thief, plain and simple. And while he prides himself on only stealing from those who have insurance so that nobody gets hurt, he has caused hurt in his own life. His wife has left him, his daughter resents him, and to add insult to injury, he has a tendency to get caught. But he’s also quite adept at breaking out of prison, particularly privatized prisons built and run by a man named Schultz (Tim Roth). When we meet Pace, he is once again breaking out of one of Schultz’s prisons, only this time he’s not only on Schultz’s radar, but on that of a band of modern-day Robin Hoods who go by the name The Misfits.

The Misfits is a heist film in the vein of The Italian Job and Ocean’s 11, meaning there is a lot of action and even more humor. Our cast of characters are good natured and fun, and the guys they are stealing from are… let’s just say we’re rooting for this particular band of misfit thieves. And what will become of all the gold they steal if they pull this off? Probably something really good for humanity, cause these guys are Misfits, but their hearts are as gold as the bars they plan on stealing.

Director: Renny Harlin ('Die Hard 2', 'Cliffhanger', '12 Rounds')
    Writer: Robert Henny, Kurt Wimmer
Cast: Jamie Chung, Pierce Brosnan, Tim Roth, Hermione Corfield, Nick Cannon, Mike Angelo, Rami Jaber
