A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a farcical and occasionally sinister scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. Based on a stranger than fiction true story, WICKED LITTLE LETTERS follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town’s women – led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) – begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.

Nerikomi is a technique of layering coloured clays to create stunning effects in the finished pieces. Clarissa will teach the class how to make 2 nerikomi blocks from 3 natural colours of clay – one featuring a random pattern and one a planned pattern. Use these blocks to hand-build small pieces using moulds and learn to create a beautiful finish. This is a handbuilding class, however the techniques presented can also be used to create blocks for wheelwork. No experience necessary, suitable for beginning or intermediate clay artists. The Karioi Quilters have been making high quality, natural fibre, artistic quilts for many years. Primarily a patchwork and quilting group, the members meet to share knowledge and skills and enjoy creating in good company. From 2023, we changed the name to Karioi Quilts and Crafts to open the group up to other crafters. Members can work on their own projects ranging from quilts, sewing projects and you can even bring your knitting, as long as it’s not a messy craft anything goes. New members are always welcome to come along to work on their own projects and learn techniques from a group of very creative craftspeople. Group co-ordinator is Sue Webber 021 489944 Meetings are held at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre from 10am to 1pm (sometimes 3pm if the room is available) on the second Thursday of every month. 10 sessions per year from February to December. Performance poet Michael Moore and filmmaker and taonga pūoro artist Komako-aroha Silver take us on a haerenga into the caves of one’s kare-a-roto with visual poetry from Te kore, Te Po through to Te Ao Marama. This rich immersion in tikanga, ancestry, the divine and the sublime is beautifully shot in the wilds of Te Henga, with an immersive soundtrack including taonga pūoro. Moore and Silver’s story embraces the heart, the mind and the soul. Plus additional four short films 5min poetic films featuring different stars of Matariki narrated by Ngaronoa Renata in collaboration Tuakana Whetu Silver and Atirau Jensen. Komako-aroha Silver will be present during the screenings of her films and will share personal insights into the making of these works with an invitation to ask questions after each section of the screening. Māori river guardian Ned Tapa takes a group of friends, family and activists on a 5-day canoe trip down this sacred river. Preceded by a kōrero from local wetland specialist Mahuru Robb, Ngāti Whakamarurangi hapu representative Taruke Thomson & Millie Grant-Macky about the Toreparu Wetland Restoration Project at 3pm.
