Pompeii is not just a city, it is a legend
This documentary explores Pompeii, that city cloaked in mystery which, over the course of history, has influenced culture and art, from Neoclassicism to Contemporary Art, through images and words by the great artists and writers who experienced, visited and imagined it: from Pliny the Younger to Picasso, from Emily Dickinson to Jean Cocteau.
The film doesn’t just deal with the volcano eruption, which has gone down in history, but with what the city of Pompeii itself was actually like: how its citizens lived their lives, spent their free time, experienced pleasure, passion, religion and their fate.

Sadly, long-time Raglan artist and teacher, Peggy Lee, died last year during lockdown. To celebrate her creativity and talent, there will be a retrospective exhibition in the Raglan Old School Arts Centre from 8th to 29th May 2021. The Opening will be on the morning of Saturday 8th May, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 midday, where all are warmly invited to morning tea and viewing of the exhibition, which is being hosted by her sisters and sons.
Peggy loved Raglan and saw it as her spiritual home. She inherited a passion for nature from her father and specialised in landscapes and seascapes that captured the essence of Raglan, painting every nook and crannie of the harbour and surrounding farmland. Most of her paintings are watercolours or acrylic, and have been described as playing with impressionism, and with colour and abstract elements. Some of the more recent works will be for sale at the exhibition.

Following on from the 7 years of constant touring that fuelled the EP 'Traveller", Monty's first 2 years as a father have defied him to delve deeply into what slowing down might uncover. The single "Catalina" gives us an intimate insight into this world, via the imaginary lens of whoever owned that abandoned trailer sailer down the road... There had to be a song in it!
Embracing change, reinventing life, and connecting to the source are themes that drive Monty's full-length debut album, out this spring.
Monty Bevins is a New Zealand based singer-songwriter, known as a touching, spirited performer, whose soul-folk songs ask the big questions while telling the small stories. With a warm rich voice and articulate guitar grooves, Monty digs out and distills themes of tenderness, personal revolution and adventure.
"Catalina" Single Release Tour:
May 14 - Raglan Old School Arts Centre, 5 Stewart St, RAGLAN

Finding You is an inspirational romantic drama full of heart and humor about finding the strength to be true to oneself. Set in and around an Irish coastal village it was filmed in Dublin, Clare, Offaly, Kildare, Cooley and Carlingford Counties. After an ill-fated audition at a prestigious New York music conservatory, violinist Finley Sinclair (Rose Reid) travels to an Irish coastal village to begin her semester studying abroad. In Ireland she meets heartthrob movie star Beckett (Jedidiah Goodacre) shooting his latest medieval fantasy blockbuster. Sparks fly between the unlikely couple who inspire each other to find the strength to be true to themselves. But when forces surrounding Beckett’s stardom threaten to crush their dreams, Finley must decide what she is willing to risk for love. Also starring Vanessa Redgrave. Filmed in Ireland. 115 mins
