An extraordinary, candid story of one family’s dream to live in the remote wilderness of Alaska. In 1992, Jean Aspen, her husband, six-year old son and family friend headed into the beautiful but isolated Brooks Range region, where they lived for 15 months, building a cabin and living off the land. When spring reopened the river, the group set forth to explore deeper into the mountains,
before embarking on the month-long canoe journey back to civilisation.

“A chance to see something of the country and the lives that remain at the mercy of others.” – Daniel M Gold, New York Times
