Zasha Skye Exhibition ‘The Colour in You’ – curated oil paintings. The exhibition will also feature a series of photographs by Sven Seddon.
Using oil paint on canvas, the 20-year-old explores texture and form to create a systematic piece, within an impressionistic style. A first exhibition for the young creative, Zasha was inspired by modern youth and the connections that surround each individual “I wanted to explore colour and how colours can portray your inner emotions,” she says.
Taking her art to the next step, Zasha began studying in 2021 for a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, a premier arts institute in Auckland. “I find being surrounded by like-minded students is continuously inspiring and motivating.”
Having grown up in Whaingaroa, she has been inspired by being surrounded by a strong art-filled community. “This allows for a massive amount of support that I am truly grateful for.” Zasha says she has always been interested in textures from clay to paint and around the age of 16 she began exploring oil paint and how it can be used over a canvas.
