Movie- AMERICAN ANIMALS (4.30pm)

November 18, 2018

Nobody wants to be ordinary.
Stuff James Croot 4/5 Stars "Layton delivers the requisite action with aplomb (including the use of split screens and key moments happening outside of the frame), as well as plenty of black humour and a mood-setting soundtrack that includes everyone from Donovan to The Doors and Rage Against the Machine to The Ramones.  All in all, American Animals is at once a stylish thriller and an insightful documentary."
NZ Herald "What is most impressive about the film is what it has to say about truth, believing what we see and what we're told by those in a place of authority. Sometimes a great story well told isn't necessarily the real story and American Animals is stranger-than-fiction in every sense."

Evan Peters (X-Men: Apocalypse) and The Killing of a Sacred Deer's Barry Keoghan star in this true story heist thriller, told in part by the actual men who committed the crime. Nominated for the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. From the director of 2012's The Imposter.

Four university students (Peters, Keoghan, Blake Jenner, and Jared Abrahamson) living an ordinary existence brazenly attempt to execute one of the most audacious art heists in US history. But not everything is as it seems, and as the daring theft unfolds through each of their perspectives, each of them starts to question whether their attempts to inject excitement and purpose into their lives is simply a misguided attempt at achieving the American Dream.

Directed by Bart Layton ('The Imposter', 'Locked Up Abroad', 'Becoming Alexander')
