The versatile building off Stewart Street has been planned to meet the community’s needs. It replaced the old Clay Shed and Lions Club Shed. On the ground floor there is the Clay Shed, Kiln Room and Lions Club. The first floor Theatre Workshop provides a multi-functional space catering for meetings, drama, theatre, music, and dance.

The marathon fund raiser is into its seventh year and the RCAC is now offering all residents the opportunity to donate toward completing the building by buying a brick as part of Batch 4.

Chair of the RCAC, Rodger Gallagher, says, we need a few thousand dollars to complete the Creative Space building.

“Thanks to a lot of hard work by volunteers, amazing support from our Raglan Whaingaroa community, and donations from several community funders we have been able to get the building to a usable stage. We now need to find the final funds to complete the project.”

Rodger Gallagher, Chair of Raglan Community Arts Council

The Brick-by-Brick project offers Raglanites the chance to buy a brick personalised with their name.

Bricks laid from Batch three

The bricks have been used in the paving and landscape design around the new building.

Many in the community have offered services free or at a reduced rate to get the building started. Others have painted tiles, bought raffle tickets, and eaten soup at Souper nights.

The Brick-by-Brick campaign is an opportunity for you, your family, or business to be a solid part of this wonderful new facility which will benefit the entire community.

Rodger says the RCAC is “almost there” and, with the community’s help, can bring the project to completion.

“The RCAC has reserved 300 bricks for engraved names. Bricks are available now for a donation of $300. A charitable donation receipt will be issued for tax rebate use.” For businesses, the cost can be a marketing expense. Sponsorship options from $300 plus GST are available.
