From Dec 3: Visiting the Raglan Old School Arts Centre

On Monday 29th November, the Government announced that the Covid-19 Protection Framework (traffic light system) would start on December 3rd with Raglan and the Waikato on the Orange setting.

The Old School is a community arts centre which runs educational workshops, movies, music, food & drink services, community events, the Clay Shed, a community gallery, a community kitchen and also hires rooms. With the mandates confirmed by the Government on the 29th November, these types of activities with the ‘orange’ setting can only take place if vaccine passes are required. All of our workers (staff, volunteers, contractors, professional and semi-professional performers) are mandated to be vaccinated for Covid-19.

This means that from the 3rd December for people aged 12 years or older visiting the Old School Arts Centre, your vaccine pass will be checked visually or with the verifier app soon after you enter a building. You will also need to scan in or record your visit manually. Children 11 years of age or younger are free to visit without a pass, but should scan in or record their visit manually. Face coverings are recommended for people aged 12 years and above, but not mandatory.

Our Management Committee emailed the Prime Minister about the Raglan Creative Market. We are pleased to advise that the Creative Market will be able to run at all traffic light settings without vaccine passes being required for visitors. The rules for farmers and occasional markets, of checking in, one metre spacing and mandatory face coverings will apply. A Govt. policy change on 5th Dec. means that ready-to-consume Food & Drink stalls can now operate on a contactless basis under the same retail market rules. After the market is over the Old School will be cleaned and switched back to the vaccine pass setting.

We understand this is a difficult time for many and we respect the choices of our visitors, volunteers and team members.

As a small community centre we are steering through uncharted territory and wish to extend our best wishes to those who may be pushing pause on everything due to the current environment.
