RAGLAN ARTS WEEKEND PREVIEW EXHIBITION
Saturday 17 December 2016 – Monday 30 January 2017
Raglan Arts Weekend might still be a few weeks away, but arts lovers can get a taste of what to expect when a preview exhibition opens at the Old School Arts Centre on Saturday 17 December.
Designed to provide an introduction to each artist participating in the Raglan Arts Weekend, the exhibition will feature a one-off, 300 x 300 mm piece of artwork, alongside a showcase piece.
And with more than ten artists set to make their Raglan Arts Weekend debut, visitors certainly have a treat in store. Artists taking part for the first time include jewellery designer Sophie Lewis-Smith, whose intricate work featured in the movie The Hobbit; airbrush artist Dr Airbrush; and Sara Waugh, whose preferred medium is ink on paper. They’ll be joining well-established Raglan artists like Simon Te Wheoro, Chris Meek, Sam Mathers, Jane Galloway, and Miranda Jane Caird.
The Preview Exhibition will open on Saturday 17 December, from 10am and 3pm, with celebration bubbles and refreshments on offer until 12noon. Daily viewing will be available until Monday 30 January (excluding public holidays), between 10am and 3pm, with all art available for sale.
Raglan Arts Weekend takes place from Saturday 28 January to Monday 30 January 2017 inclusive. As well as the opportunity to tour the studios of over 36 local artists, the weekend also sees the return of the Little Food Fest, with passionate vendors dishing up a tasty array of food and drink from 10am to 3pm on all 3 days at the Old School Arts Centre.
Mark the weekend in your diaries – it’s one of Raglan’s summer highlights!
