About us

This section contains items and news about the Raglan Old School Arts Centre and our friends.

The Old School Arts Centre is run by the Raglan Community Arts Council, a statutory body, operating under the Arts Council of New Zealand Act. We are a charitable entity registered by the New Zealand Charities Commission, registration number CC24379, 14 May 2008. Donations are tax deductible.

With exhibitions, concerts, films and creative workshops and a thriving school holiday programme, the Old School is a busy place, offering a great deal to both visitors and and the local community.

Booking a room for your event at the Arts Centre

To book an event, first check the calendar to make sure that nothing else is on at the same time as the time when you are planning your event. Phone 825 0023 or email info@raglanartscentre.co.nz to make sure. Then download the form from the links shown below and post it to PO Box 91, Raglan 3265 or drop it in at the Arts Centre.

Exhibiting at the Old School

Being a Member or Friend of the Old School

Being a Member or Friend means belonging to a network of people who want to support this exciting place, and enjoy the benefits it has to offer.

  • Membership of Raglan Community Arts Council gives you voting rights at general meetings, and some financial benefits, eg if you wish to hire the gallery facilities, sell work through the gallery, or have your work included in Members’ exhibitions.
  • Friends of the Old School don’t have a formal connection with the Raglan Community Arts Council, but play a very important and valuable part in the running of events at the Old School.

The CLAY SHED is situated behind the Raglan Old School Arts Centre. It has basic equipment, electric and raku kilns, pottery wheels and workspace for hand-building projects.

Raglan Youth Arts Scholarship

The Raglan Community Arts Council has much pleasure in announcing a scholarship of $1000 to be awarded to a young person resident in the Whaingaroa region who intends to go on to tertiary study in the visual arts next year. The aim of the award is to encourage young artists who aim to study any of the following: design, multi-media, photography or moving image, graphic arts, raranga, painting, ceramic arts, whakairo.
The scholarship has been made possible through the generosity of those involved with the successful Raglan Festivals of Art held in recent years.

Raglan Old School Heritage

The Old School in Stewart Street, Raglan is a beautiful historic building rich in memories. Declared a heritage site in 2008, the Old School continues to be a part of Raglan's heart and soul.
